April Favourites

Hello my lovely cupcakes!
Today I have my monthly favourites post for you.
Even though my makeup has been pretty simple and neutral the past couple weeks, I've discovered a lot of new items I embedded into my daily routine.
So, without further ado, let's got to my April Favourites!

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation
I got this in a haul a while back and I've been using it almost everyday since my purchase. Even though people have been raving about this foundation for years I always hesitated getting it because I'm usually not a big fan of full coverage foundation, they just feel too heavy and cakey on my face. But the Laura Mercier one is simply perfect for me even though it is full coverage.
I blends flawlessly, doesn't feel heavy at all and I don't need to powder or blot my T-Zone the entire day. Definitely a new holy grail foundation for me.
Full review will be up soon.

Catrice Absolute NUDE Eyeshadow Palette
I spontaneously picked this palette up whilst shopping for some necessities a few weeks ago. The concept reminded me of the UD Naked palettes and since Catrice products are not too expensive, I decided to give it a try.
The colours are really nicely pigmented and easy to blend. I only wish that there would be a couple matte shades in the palette since all the shadows are quite shimmery.

MAC Lipstick in Cut a Caper
This lipstick is limited edition but it was already re-released a couple times so you might own it yourself even though it is super popular. I pulled it out of my drawer again for spring and summer because the colour is a bright peachy coral and I don't tend to wear shades like this during fall and winter.
Cut a Caper has a Lustre finish which is my favourite type in MAC lipsticks because they're sheer and easy to wear on a daily basis and do not dry out the lips at all.

Benefit Bella Bamba Box'o'Powder
I've mentioned the Bella Bamba blush in my Shop my Stash post because I neglected it for so long even though the color is just so lovely.
It's a perfect watermelon pink with slight shimmer that goes with any eyelook and gives fo cheeks a healthy flush with a radiant glow. Definitely a thumbs up!

Max Factor Clump Defy Mascara
Apart from the Maybelline Rocket Volume, no mascara has really wowed my in the past couple of month until I discovered the Max Factor Clump Defy. It's exactly the same as the Covergirl Clump Crusher just a different name and packaging.
Since I have straight and short lashes I need lots of volume and length but I don't want my mascara to clump and make my lashes look like spider legs. Therefore, Clump Defy is perfect for me since I can literally pile it on like crazy without ending up with a clumpy mess. Definitely a repurchase for me.

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo
I've been using the Miracle Moist Shampoo in the past already and have really like it because it made my hair super smooth, healthy and shiny and the smell was just divine. Unfortunately, the brand Aussie itself wasn't readily available in Germany just until the past month and paying the shipping costs from the UK all the time was too much of a fuss for a shampoo.
But since the brand has finally launched in Germany as well, I'm so excited to be able to use this awesome shampoo again. If you haven't tried anything from Aussie yet, make sure to do so, they have some amazing products.

NEW Revlon Lip Butter for Spring 2013

Hello my lovely cupcakes!
Today I have a quick post for you on the new Lip Butter Revlon has come out with quite recently for the upcoming seasons. They released four new shades unlike all the others in the permanent line so far. I don't know if these four will be limited edition so please let me know if you have further attention.
I purchased three out of the four colours skipping on Pink Lemonade because it doesn't match up with my complexion very well. The shades I ended up getting are Juicy Papaya, Wild Watermelon and Sorbet.

Juicy Papaya = mid-tone peachy coral
Wild Watermelon = bright red with a hint of pink
Sorbet = deep pink with a slight touch of berry

I've got quite a few messages asking for a first opinion about the quality and some swatches because even though the actual tube is suppossed to be representing the colour inside, it's not always accurate enough.

As all the other lip butters from Revlon I own so far, the new ones are just as good in quality. They are a little sheer but very moisturizing and comfortable on the lips. The colour range is perfect for spring, they shades are pretty bright but still wearable because they're not too opaque.
If you are a fan of the Revlon Lip Butter in general, you should definitely check out the new collection.

Now let's get into a little more detail and swatches!

(from l. to r.) Juicy Papya - Wild Watermelon - Sorbet

Douglas Box of Beauty April 2013

Hello my lovely cupcakes. Sorry that it's been so long since my last post but uni has started the past week and I'm already incredibly busy.
Anyways, today I have my belated mothly post on the Douglas Box of Beauty.
Since the choice was too good to be true last month, I knew it couldn't possibly be like that this time again. But there still were a lot of good items to choose from and I ended up with a nice mix of things to try.
The value for april comes to a total of 70,45 .

Good Skin Labs Exten-10 Instant Youth Boosting Moisurizer (50ml)
This is the full-size item for this month and 50ml retail for 42,95 € which is absolutely crazy regarding you only pay 10 € for the entire box.
I'm currently using another moisturizer but as soon as I'm finished I'm definitely gonna try this one out. Hopefully it'll live up to my high expectations since it is very pricey.

Flora by Gucci Glorious Mandarin Perfumed Body Lotion (50ml)
I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a miniature perfume for april because I really wanted to try a new spring scent. I ended up with the Flora by Gucci Glorious Mandarin Body Lotion since I wanted to try it forever
but the actual fragrance is quite expensive. Now I have at least a little sample of the lotion.

Shiseido Perfect Mascara Defining Volume (2ml)
I always carry mascara with me when I'm on the go for touch-ups during the day so I'm glad for every sample I can get my hands on since mascara does dry out quickly and you're not suppossed to keep them for long anyways.
I haven't tried the Shiseido Defining Volume yet but the brush already looks fairly promising.

Kiehl's Ultra Light Daily UV Defense Moisturizer (5ml)
I've never tried anything from this brand so I was really pleased to see a sample pop up in the beauty box. It's a daily moisturizer with really high SPF so I will probably wait to try it until summer because I burn so easily.
In only wished the bottle would contain a little more product since 5ml for a moisturizer isn't that much.

Alterna Bamboo Volume 48 Hour Sustainable Volume Spray (25ml)
This was the last thing I picked for my box because I wasn't too sure about it first but I ended up loving it. I have quite long and very straight hair that tends to drop down during the day so I'm always looking for hair products giving my roots a little lift and volume.
I've only used the spray a couple of times but it already works great. Of course it doesn't give me mega volume like you often see it in ads, but I can definitely tell the difference.

Shopping my Stash #1

Hello my lovelies! Hope you all had a wonderful start of the week.
Today I have a new sort of post today I recently discovered through the lovely Christine from StarryEyedBeauty. It's called Shopping my Stash.
Since I'm a beauty addict, I buy a lot of new makeup all the time and tend to forget about things I already have in my collection. But with this new section on my blog. I'm gonna go through my stash probably once a month and dig out a few products I haven't used in a while rather than just purchasing more and more. This way I get to really appreciate what I have and don't just let it go bad.
Anways, here are the first few product I've picked out of my drawers.

Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzer
I've purchased this a little while ago but never really used it that much. As you can see from the picture, I barely touched it. I wasn't quite sure how to use this bronzer and since contouring my face is an extra, optional step for me I often skipped on it and just put on some blush especially when I'm in a hurry.
I finally decided to drag out the Soleil Tan de Chanel and use it since spring is around the corner and I'm pretty pale right now. If it's going to work out for me, I'll definitely have it mentioned in a favourites post.

Clarins Eclat Minute Instant Light Complexion Perfector
I've got this primer ages ago and never really used it that much since, just like bronzer, face primer is an extra step I don't do on a daily basis.
I've used it a couple times since rediscovering it and so far I'm quite satisfied. I think I'm gonna use it a lot from now on.

MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
I used to use this paint pot all the time and it's actually getting pretty old already because I've had it for a couple years. It's still creamy but has already cracks at the edges so I only give it a couple more month until I need to throw it out.
Painterly is the perfect colour match for my skin and doubles up as sort of a colour corrector for my veiny and red eyelids. I'm definitely gonna try and use it up before it completely dries out.

Benefit Bella Bamba Boxed Powder
This is such a lovely blush and I can't understand how I could've ever moved it out of my vanity into my stash. The colour gives me a lovely flush and goes with every eye look. It has a slight shimmer so I'm able to skip highlighter all along since this works kind of a two in one product.
I'm gonna be using this blush all spring and summer.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte in 13 Peach Passion
I have a couple YSL Lipsticks but 13 Peach Passion seems to be my least used one even though it's such a petty colour. I often do a brighter lip for spring so I'm gonna get a lot of use out of this.
The texture is really silky and lasts quite some time on my lips without being drying.

What products have you rediscovered lately? Are you constantly buying new makeup as well?

Laura Mercier Haul

Hello my lovely cupcakes! Hope you're all doing fine.
Even though the weather's been awful the past couple of weeks, I went out yesterday to do some beauty shopping. I wanted to have a look at the new MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots and maybe pick a couple of those up since they're my favourite eye primer.
I was especially interested in Antiqued Diamond and Vintage Selection but I ended up getting neither of them since the collection is permanent anyways and the shades didn't fulfill my expectations.
I went to the Laura Mercier counter afterward because I finally wanted to treat myself and get the Silk Creme Foundation I've been lusting after for almost two years now. I didn't want to order it online because the foundation is kinda pricey and I need and exact match because internet swatches don't always show the true colour. Once I've tested the foundation a little while, I'm gonna have a full review here on my blog.
After picking the foundaton I've had a look at the Caviar Stick Eye Colours Tiffany from MakeupbyTiffanyD is raving about constantly. I swatched a couple of shades and decided to go for Jungle which is a beautiful olive/army green and exactly what I expected Antiqued Diamond from the Paint Pots to look like. If I'm gonna like these eye pencils I'll definitely get a couple more since they have an awesome shade range.
Anways, enough for the boring rambling part, let's get onto the pictures of my new goodies!
