MAC Lipstick Finishes

Today I'm finally doing a post I've been planning to do for a really long time.
I will give you an overview of all the different MAC Lipstick Finishes and also tell you my favourites from each category. I tried to only include permanent shades so you'll be able to purchase them any time you want.

There are over 100 shades of regular lipsticks in the permanent collection divided into 7 categories and yet MAC keeps releasing more and more colours, especially in limited editions. So it's kinda helpful to know what the different finishes actually mean.
They are all very different so everbody will find their perfect colour, no matter if they prefer matte or shimmery lips.

Amplified
This is probably the most opaque and vivid finish, yet the consistency is very creamy and doesn't dry out the lips. The colour is very long-wearing and does stay in place for hours.
Favourites: Blankety, Impassioned, Saint Germain

Cremesheen
Very creamy and moisturizing but not that long-wearing because of the smooth texture. This finish is perfect for everday because the colours are not too bright and bold but very settle.
Favourites: Creme D'Nude, Shy Girl, Crosswires

Satin
Along with Amplified, this semi-matte finish is the most opaque, especially with brighter colours. It's also very long-wearing but because of the formula it tends to accentuate dry and chapped lips, so you have to be careful with this, especially during the winter.
Favourites: Snob, Myth, Toxic Tale (LE)

Lustre
This is probably the favourite amongst a lot of people and has the widest range of shades in the permanent line. It's very gloss and sheer which makes the lips shine through the colour yet doesn't dry them out. This is another great finish for everyday if you don't mind re-applying the colour regularly.
Favourites: Pretty Please, Lady Bug, Patisserie, Lovelorn

Glaze
This finish is very similar to Lustre but it is even more sheer and most of the colours have a slight bit of shimmer. With this type of formula, it's more about the settle sheen rather than colour on the lips.
Favourites: Frou

Frost
The consistency of Frost is very similar to Lustre and Glaze, except for the colour pay-off which is a lot better and you can build these lipsticks to an opaque finish. They're not too creamy and stay on for a really long time. This is another finish with lots of different shades to choose from.
Favourites: Angel, Bombshell, Costa Chic, Tanarama

Matte
Last but not least. As the name already says, this finish is completely matte which makes it stay on for a really long time but at the same time it's quite drying and emphasizes chapped lips. So make sure to keep a good lipbalm handy.
Favourites: Ruby Woo, Russian Red

Hope this helped some of you. What is your favourite MAC lipstick finish?
